Hacktivists Disable Russian Web in Occupied Ukraine Territories Over the Weekend

A cyber group disrupted Russian Federation-backed web providers throughout Ukrainian territories at present occupied by Moscow final week.

Referred to as the IT Military, the Ukraine-based hacktivists claimed in a Telegram submit they’d attacked three Russian telecommunication corporations working within the areas by a distributed denial-of-service or DDoS method.

DDoS is a technique by which actors “flood” a server with web visitors to dam customers from accessing websites.

The suppliers affected by the breach included Miranda-Media, Krimtelekom, and MirTelekom.

The Russian operators confirmed the assaults Friday night, saying that the “unprecedented stage of DDoS assaults” precipitated “momentary unavailability” of their providers.

Hours later, Miranda-Media introduced that about 80 % of providers, together with web connectivity, cellular information transmission, and voice communication, had been restored in all three corporations.

In the meantime, a number of web connections remained unavailable throughout Crimea by Saturday as upkeep efforts from the businesses proceeded.

The IT Military

The IT Military gained notoriety within the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Since then, the group has facilitated countermeasures to defend Ukraine’s digital area from potential vulnerabilities.

The hacktivists attacked Crimean community suppliers earlier this month to obstruct surveillance cameras alongside the area’s western coast and block Russian navy logistics.

Different operations the group has carried out contain assaults on Russian banking web sites, authorities portals, and firms.

At present, 200,000 to 400,000 volunteers are working the IT Military campaigns.
