French International Minister Catherine Colonna mentioned on a go to to Armenia on Tuesday that Paris agreed to ship army gear to the small South Caucasus nation.
Colonna traveled to Armenia after Azerbaijani forces final month swept via the breakaway area of Nagorno-Karabakh and secured the give up of Armenian separatist forces that had managed the mountainous area for many years.
“France has given its settlement to the conclusion of future contracts with Armenia which is able to permit the supply of army gear to Armenia in order that it could guarantee its defence,” she informed reporters after talks that she mentioned touched upon safety and protection.
France’s prime diplomat declined to supply any particulars.
“I can’t give many particulars. If I’ve to go a bit additional, know that there are issues that had been already agreed between Armenia and France and which can be in progress,” Colonna mentioned.
“There’s a second class of issues that we will do with Armenia,” she added, noting that each nations didn’t search an escalation within the area.
France, which has a big Armenian diaspora, has historically helped mediate the decades-old territorial dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Karabakh.
