Slovakia has frozen selections on offering navy help to neighboring Ukraine after populists against navy help for Kyiv received a parliamentary election, the presidency mentioned Thursday.
Spokesman Martin Strizinec instructed AFP that President Zuzana Caputova shared the view of the outgoing premier “{that a} determination on this query should replicate the results of current legislative elections.”
“A call regarding navy help at this second will set a precedent” for the brand new authorities, he mentioned, including that the outgoing administration had restricted powers.
The spokesman mentioned Caputova had not “modified her place on navy help to Ukraine and she’s going to proceed to again it.”
Populist Robert Fico, who has pledged to finish navy assist for Ukraine, was tapped Monday to type a brand new authorities after his celebration completed first in Saturday’s vote with 23 % of the poll.
