The United Arab Emirates has signed a letter of intent to buy the Brazilian-made Nationwide Floor Anti-Ship Missile (MANSUP) and its extended-range model.

The 1.2-billion UAE dirham ($327 million) deal was signed on the Dubai Airshow 2023 on Wednesday, following the revealing of the MANSUP-Prolonged Vary by Edge Group.

The Brazilian Navy procured the missiles for 600 million UAE dirhams ($163.36 million) on Tuesday.

Nationwide Floor Anti-Ship Missile

A quartet of Brazilian corporations — Avibras, Mectron, Atech, and Omnisys — developed the missile to exchange the Brazilian Navy’s Exocet MM40 Block 1.

In September, Edge Group joined the undertaking with the acquisition of a 50 p.c stake in SIATT, previously Mectron.

The Brazilian Navy has performed 5 check launches of the missile.

MANSUP Prolonged-Vary

The extended-range missile can strike targets 200 kilometers (120 miles) away, greater than twice the preliminary variant at 70 kilometers (43 miles).

It options adaptive sea-skimming capabilities, inertial steering, and energetic radar homing.

The missile’s land and air-launched variations will even be developed, EDGE stated, including that the agency is in superior talks with potential prospects.

“The success of the MANSUP program is now being demonstrated by the commitments being positioned by prospects, now together with the UAE and Brazilian Armed Forces,” EDGE Group CEO Mansour AlMulla stated.
